Owner of Southern Insurance Group, Tom has been selling insurance for going on 24 years in Central Florida. He was born in NY, and raised in Oviedo, FL where he completed all his schooling. He had a full scholarship for football from UCF where he graduated in Dec. 1987 with a business administration degree.

He started his insurance career in April of 1988 as an insurance agent with Florida Farm Bureau for the next 20 years. He then took an early retirement from Farm Bureau and opened up an independent insurance agency in Clermont, FL from June of 2008 to present.

Tom is married to Tish and has two children, Garrett and Cooper. Garrett is now an agent with Southern and Cooper currently is attending East Ridge H.S.

Tish was born and raised in the central Florida area. She started in the insurance industry as a customer service rep in 1986, becoming an agent in 1988. She spent the next 20 years working full time as well as part-time for two captive insurance agencies while raising her two sons. She returned full time to the business 4 years ago and heads our commercial lines division and serves as office manager.

Richard has been in the insurance field since 1998 and with Southern insurance Group since the opening in June of 2008. At Southern he works as an Agent specializing in personal lines of insurance including home, auto, health and life. He is a lifelong resident of Central Florida and also holds a broker’s license for Real Estate. He feels this additional license gives him a unique perspective on property protection and the challenges we face in the Central Florida area.  He is married to Wendy Bird ( who happens to also work with SIG!) and has two beautiful children, Wayne age 7 ( my fishing buddy) and Ava age 3 ( singer in my band… well not yet).He enjoys writing and playing music as well as playing guitar at the First Baptist Church In Eustis Fl.

Garrett started with Southern Insurance Group fresh out of college at UCF in Jan 2011. He is fully licensed in all areas of insurance and financial planning. He grew up here in Clermont and attended East Ridge H.S. and is the oldest son of Tom and Tish Johnson.

Wendy has worked for Southern Insurance Group since Sept. 2010 and is a licensed CSR with outstanding skills in customer service.  She has substantial experience in the insurance field, working in all aspects of the field from sales to claims filing.  Since Wendy has been with Southern Insurance Group she has built great client relationships by demonstrating exceptional customer service skills to each individual client, no matter the issue.    Additionally, Wendy is married and a mother of 2 young children.  Her love and dedication for her family doesn’t stop at home and our clients benefit from her personality and work ethics.

Chris has been with Southern Insurance Group since September 2010.  In her position as a Customer Service Representative she is responsible for client care as well as offering administrative support to the Agents.

Chris has a genuine love for people and an outgoing personality.  She is active in her church and stays busy with her husband and three children.

Susan has worked for Southern Insurance Group since October, 2011.  Born and raised in the central Florida area, she comes from 30 years of working in a Corporate environment.  Having received numerous awards during the course of 30 years for Top Performer, her background in customer service have made her an outstanding addition to our staff.  As a Customer Service Representative she is responsible for client care as well as administrative support to the Agents.  She provides exceptional customer care to each of her clients. 

Susan is married, has two children and loves spending quality time with family and friends.
